Forced air heat is the most popular in this country because of low installation costs but is is the most expensive type of heat to operate and the least comfortable! When a forced air furnace comes on, a blast of warm air blows into the room for a short time, spreads through the room, carrying dust, pollen, and other air-born pollutants with it. It continues until the thermostat is satisfied. The warmer air rises to the ceiling, leaving cooler air below. As the room cools, the thermostat calls for the cycle to repeat. Radiant heaters in the form of wall furnaces, radiant unit heaters, and overhead radiant heaters give improved efficiency over forced air. However, overall room comfort is still difficult to achieve, because this type of heat concentrates an extreme amount of heat in a small area. Temperatures ranging from 200 to 900 degrees Fahrenheit at the surface of the heaters result in uncomfortable warm areas near the unit and cold a few feet away. RADIANT FLOOR HEAT is the BEST alternative given the facts that forced air has little hope of providing either comfort or efficiency and that conventional radiant heating is plagued with hot and cold spots throughout the room. RADIANT FLOOR HEAT solves these problems by spreading the heating surface over the entire face of the floor. Floor temperatures of 70 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit will provide a clean, uniformly comfortable temperature throughout a room AND entire building with no blowing air and no concentration of heat at the ceilings. Efficiency improvements of 30% to 50% are common when compared to forced air. |
